| Where I grew uo we had zillions of pine trees on the dune laden coast. Little did I know then, is that pine needles contain 5 times the ammount of Vit C than that which is found in lemons. You can make tea from these things for a big Vit C injection. Not tried it myself but will give it a go when up that way next! A handful of pine needles, or 1/4 cup fresh chopped needles steeped in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes provide 100% of the U.S.R.D.A. of vitamin C. Pine soup (or tea) tastes like the pine forest smells, or add a squeeze of lemon and a little honey to liven it up a bit.

| This is so correct, Floyd!
Here, folks go out in the spring to collect the new shoots (needles) even from Albies alba (white fir) to make a kind of jelly to be used as a remedy for flu, colds and respiratory ailments. | |
